In fact, Max Schmeling was a thoroughly decent man. He refused to join the NAZI Party and attempted to protect Jews he knew. The boy (about 10 years old) wears normal German school clothes--a dark short pants outfit with black long stockings and obviously a Strapsleibchen (bodice and four garters).
