Tom Keating
Tom Keating was a British artist who, dismissed from the art world on the basis of his own originality, turned to forging the works of great painters.
He claimed to have forged in excess of 2000 artworks from more than 100 different artists during his lifetime. After dropping out of art school at Goldsmith’s College, University of London Keating began work as an art restorer, where he began to master the ability to seamlessly incorporate his own artistry into the style of other artists, namely Samuel Palmer and Frank Moss Bennett.
In addition to proving his own artistry Keating forged art with the resolve to fool experts and destabilize the art world that he felt was rotten and dominated by conniving dealers out to profit off of artists and collectors.
